Summer Edge: Fun-Paced Learning at McLean School of Maryland

Science and Art of Beyblade™

June 25-29

Let it rip! Join us for a week-long adventure in the science, tech and art of Beyblade™ spinning tops. Begin by experimenting with the physics of clay and metal tops in order to design your best battling model. For example, explore how a change in the “mass” of a top affects the force and length of its spin. Discover through trial and error how things such as the height, “center of gravity,” “friction,” and “rotational inertia” of your top are affected by various design changes. Finally, customize your Beyblade and let it rip our Beyblade arenas! (Please note that all of these skills and concepts are taught at age-appropriate levels, and with age-appropriate language, for each group, from age 5 to13).

New players will learn the basic rules for this popular game, and practice them in a fun, non-competitive environment. More experienced players explore advanced rules and strategies to improve their game. All matches take place in a fun, non-competitive environment, with players grouped by similar ability. Every camper will benefit from the opportunity to learn the “science” of Beyblade™ spinning tops, and to increase their skill level. Special emphasis will be given to strategies for official Beyblade Tournaments.
