What are your camp hours? 

Brain Camp (Entering grades PK-6) Full Day Program: 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Brain Camp (Entering grades PK-6) Half Day Program: 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Intensive Programs (Grades 1-8) Full Day Program: 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Summer Scholars (Entering grades 7-12): 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Wonderkids (Grades K-8) Full Day Program: 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Specialty Programs (Grades 4-12) Full Day Program: 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Extended Day AM 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m. & PM 3:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Who makes up your staff?

Professional teachers, coaches, graduate students, college students, and high school students make up the talented, enthusiastic, and friendly staff at SummerEdge.  A registered nurse is on duty during regular camp hours for all medical related issues.

SummerEdge also offers a Counselor-in-Training Program for those interested in working with children and gaining on the job training.

What is your camper to staff ratio?

The camper/staff ratio of 5:1 ensures individual attention for all campers.

Do I need to fill out the Health Forms?

Medical information on each camper will be collected during the online registration process.  Please be sure to have the date of your child’s most recent tetanus shot available when you register.  If your child does not attend a school in the state of Maryland or is home schooled, you are required to fill out the Immunization Record (found on our website under Forms) The Medication Authorization form covers both over-the-counter and prescription medications and requires both a physicians and parent signature.  No medications, prescription or over-the-counter medications, including sunscreen, may be administered by our camp nurse without the Medication Authorization form signed by your child’s physician.

If my child needs to have an EpiPen how is this handled?

For all prescription medications, including EpiPens, the Medication Authorization Form is required and must be signed by your physician.  This form should include the medical order for administration of the medication.  It is preferred that prescription medications be delivered to the camp nurse on Pre-Camp visiting day, but they may be dropped off any time during camp hours.  Prescription medications will be available for pick up from the Health Room on your child’s last day.  Any unclaimed prescription medications remaining past August 31 will be disposed of.

Can a counselor apply sunscreen lotion to my child?

Yes, if your child’s physician fills out the Medication Authorization form to give permission for our staff to apply sunscreen.  Sunscreen must be brought in its original container and labeled with your child’s name.

When is tuition due?

A final bill will be emailed to you at the beginning of April, tuition must be paid in full by Friday, April 27, 2012, or your child’s place in camp may be forfeited. Final payment may be made by check, credit card.

What forms of payment do you accept? Do you accept credit cards?

Electronic payment online is required for your deposit; we accept MasterCard and Visa.  Your final balance may be paid by check, mailed to McLean School of Maryland or the credit cards listed above.

What is your refund policy?

Withdrawals from any SummerEdge program must be made in writing.  All registration fees are nonrefundable after confirmation of acceptance into a program.  SummerEdge tuition is refundable up until May 1st.  There will be NO refunds after May 1, 2012.

Withdrawal from Early Risers or Night Owls must be made in writing and refunds will be prorated to the day after notice of withdrawal is received.  

Is there an opportunity to visit the campus prior to the first day of camp?

Yes.  Pre-Camp Visiting Day for all campers and will be held Friday, June 15, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Signs and SummerEdge staff will be available on campus to assist you in locating your camper’s classrooms and to answer any questions you may have.  This will be a self-guided opportunity for parents and children to familiarize themselves with the campus and facilities.  Most of our counselors will be in their classrooms making final preparations for the beginning of camp.

What if my child loses something at camp?

Lost and found bins are placed outside of the SummerEdge office.  SummerEdge can not be responsible for lost or stolen items and we ask that you clearly label all articles brought to campus.  After August 31, all remaining items will be donated to charity.

What additional programs are available and what are the fees?

KnowlEdge Tutoring (Grades K-12): 3:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. $80/session
Early Risers     8:00am-9:00am Prepaid $50/week      Drop in= $12/day
Night Owls       3:30pm-6:00pm Prepaid $100/week    Drop in= $25/day
