  • Behavior Expectations

Students come to McLean’s SummerEdge with a serious purpose and an appreciation for the fun of learning. We expect students to be responsible and respectful members of our community—using their conscience and good sense to guide behavior. If a camper fails to abide by the expectations for behavior, the parent/guardian will be notified by phone and asked to remove their child from SummerEdge for the day without refund. If behavior continues to not meet expectations, we reserve the right to remove campers from SummerEdge for the remainder of the summer.
  • Deposit

A $100 deposit for each camper is due at the time of registration and will be applied to the total tuition. This deposit is non-refundable.

  • Drop off and pick up

Parents may drop off and pick up their child on the McLean School campus. Morning drop-off begins at 8:45 am. Afternoon pick-up begins at 3:00 pm. We ask that you please type your camper's first and last name (preferably in large font) on a piece of paper and place it on your dashboard at dismissal. Please form a line around the circle and wait in your car until your child is dismissed to ensure a smooth and timely carpooling experience for all. Our staff will greet and escort children to and from their cars each day. There is parking available on campus if you should need to come into the building.

Before and After Care are available each day. Please go to the Before and After Care section of our website for more details about Early Risers and Night Owls.
  • Food

Each child must bring his or her lunch, drink and snack. Any child staying for Night Owls should also pack an additional snack. Children eat lunch in the All Purpose Room (APR) under supervision from 12:00 pm–12:20 pm and are not allowed to leave the APR during this time. Please note that a nut-free table is available for children with nut allergies but we are NOT a nut-free campus.

If your child has a Birthday during camp and you would like to send in a treat to celebrate, we will need it to come in its original packaging with the ingredients listed on it. Therefore store-bought treats are preferred. Popsicles are usually best because the ingredients allow for more campers with food allergies to enjoy them as well.

  • Weather

In cases of inclement weather during camp hours (thunderstorms, high temperatures, poor air quality, etc.) campers will remain indoors.

In the event of light rain during dismissal, campers will line up below the awning in front of the school and dismissal will go on as scheduled.

Should thunder and lightning occur during dismissal, campers will be kept inside and no camper will be sent to the carpool line until deemed safe by our staff (typically 30 minutes after the last sign of thunder and lightening). Parents are welcome to park in our parking lot and walk inside the building to retrieve their campers if they so choose. Otherwise, we ask that you please be patient and wait in the carpool line until we are safely able to bring your camper to you.

In the case of a weather related event or other "Act of God" that prevents the saftey and enrichment of our campers, we reserve the right to contact each camper's guardian and request that they are picked up in a timely fashion.
