Description

This three-week camp is designed for students entering Grades 1-8 who are seeking support with key math concepts and skills. Our program aims to make math interesting and fun for even the most reluctant mathematician by combining focused, small grade-level group instruction with engaging, hands-on activities and games that increase recall and help students internalize key material.

The curriculum is comprehensive and aligned with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) guidelines. Content covers a wide range of essential areas, from foundational skills like basic computation, fractions, decimals, and percents, up through simple equations, variables, geometry, and other vital pre-algebraic concepts. Instruction draws from a wide range of materials and best practices, including those utilized in methodologies such as Singapore Math.

This program is led by trained instructors, including McLean School Faculty, who strategically screen each student at the beginning of the program to identify possible gaps in understanding and target specific areas for review and reinforcement. At the end of the program, families will receive a written summary of their child’s progress, strengths, challenges, and detailed recommendations to share with their educational team for the upcoming academic year.

If your child…

  • Likes hands-on learning
  • Loves math
  • Thinks they don’t
  • Is ready to move from concrete to abstract thinking
  • Could use some extra attention
  • Is ready for math to be fun

… this camp is for you!
