Description
This three-week camp is designed for students entering Grades 3-8 who are ready to strengthen their written expression, organization, and fundamental language arts skills. The program provides small grade-level group instruction tailored to meet individual needs, whether students require support with foundational elements like grammar, spelling, and basic structure, or are ready to elevate their persuasive and organizational techniques.
Inspired by structured, multi-sensory curricula such as Framing Your Thoughts, students will progress from careful word choice and sentence building to well-organized paragraph and essay development. Instruction employs proven strategies, including color coding, graphic organizers, manipulatives, and memory strategies, ensuring that learning addresses various styles.
Led by trained instructors, including McLean School Faculty, each student is screened at the beginning of the program to identify specific gaps in understanding and target areas for focused reinforcement. The learning process is highly collaborative, featuring brainstorming, editing, and essential one-on-one teacher conferencing. At the conclusion of the program, families will receive a detailed report on their child’s progress, strengths, challenges, and actionable recommendations to share with their educational team for the upcoming academic year.
